Trick your body thinking it was fasting by Fasting-Mimicking

You could now trick the body into thinking it was fasting and receive the health benefits related to calorie restriction, by never actually stop eating.

A lab at the University of Southern California has been researching it for while calling it as “Fasting-Mimicking diet.” The diet reduces your caloric intake in just 5 days a month. First day you start off with eating 1100 calories and the next four days just 750 calories, before returning to a normal diet.

Diet requires the patient to sharply that reduce the calorie intake on certain days or at the certain field are a hot field of research. They have been shown to extend longevity and improve health in human. But they are difficult in practice and can be dangerous if not done correctly.

The fasting-mimicking group had a prescribed food regimen five days a week for three months. The diet was high in unsaturated fats, and low in sugars and protein, consisting of mostly soups and vegetables.

As per studies, the diet helps organs removed damaged cells and replace them with more functional system organs cells. Most of the effect is related to weight loss. The group with the given mimicking diet lost average 3-3.5 Kgs weight. This diet also reduces the risk factors for diabetes, cancer and cardiovascular disease.

The doctor behind this Fasting-Mimicking diet plan Dr.Longo has published an article in journal science translational medicine. The Science Translational Medicine study was funded with USC funding and the five-day diet was provided by L-Nutra, a Los-Angeles based company founded by Dr. Longo, which started selling a commercial version of the diet last year.  The diet is currently being sold for $299 for a five-day cycle and requires supervision from a doctor or dietitian.

Satchidananda Panda, a professor at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies in San Diego, said the challenge with such diets is they benefit overweight people the most, but usually attract healthy people.

Dieting is the major phase of being healthy but you should also do some exercise in parallel. Gyming is not the only option, playing sports is the best alternative. Running for an hour on the treadmill to remain fit has lost its appeal. You can switch to something other than a workout in the gym to one that feels more like play. Sports is a very good medium to remain fit and healthy.
