Abhijeet Bhattacharya’s (July – 2017)
Singer Abhijit Bhattacharya who came back to Twitter with second account got blocked after and hours of pushing his first tweet. His initial account was blocked on 23rd May 2017 after multiple users abuse reports against the tweet on JNU student Sheila Rashid.
“Vande Mataram. I am back. Anti-nationals can’t stop my voice, salute to Indian Army. This is my new Twitter account, rest are fake.”
Nishant Joshi a cricket fan the man behind @AltCricket handle that supports his activities and shares his opinion on world cricket got banned on twitter. With more than 10000 followers Joshi account was suspended for the tweet against Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli. Joshi was targeted by a mob of users in India threatening to report his account, responding to a tweet about Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli.
Twitter recently suspended the Twitter account of AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal by concluding it as a parody account. AAP leader tweets everything else other than government policies, educational reforms, welfare schemes etc. which is expected by CM of the state. As expected Arvind Kejriwal blamed Modi Sarkar for his account suspension which was very well expected.
GabbbarSingh (November – 2016)
A parody account in name of famous Villain Gabbar Singh got suspended in November 2016 for the tweet against Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal. Not surprisingly, the social media is calling it unfair and there was an outrage on social media about this. There were more than 4 Lakh followers for this account during the suspension.
Paresh Rawal (May – 2017)
Paresh Rawal Twitter account was also blocked for the tweet against Arundhati Roy. Arundhati Roy is a self-proclaimed liberal and secular openly called India illegally occupying J&K, Northeast, Goa and many other states and she was never questioned on a pretext of free speech. But when our own Bollywood Icon and Member of Parliament expressed his freedom of speech, Twitter has suspended his account and laid a clause that it would be only restored if he promises to delete the tweet on Arundhati Roy.
Yogi Adityanath (March – 2017)
UP CM Yogi Adityanath account got suspended in March 2017. There were some controversial tweets from Hindu nationalist leader. He changed his account from @yogi_adityanath to new @myogiadityanath. According to political expert, this move was to change his image as Hindu nationalist leader. The new account was started just after taking an oath as UP CM in March 2017.
